A calmer, comfort-led treatment

What is pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy massage is a treatment adapted around the changing comfort and positioning needs of an expectant mother. It should be provided by a therapist who has completed appropriate pregnancy massage training.

The therapist uses gentle, controlled techniques and adapts positioning, pressure and treatment areas according to the stage of pregnancy, the client’s comfort and any relevant health information.

Clients are normally supported comfortably with cushions and may be positioned on their side rather than lying flat on their stomach.

Your comfort comes first

The appointment is never rushed. Pressure, positioning and the areas treated should be adjusted throughout the session, and the client should speak up whenever something feels uncomfortable.

Why clients may choose pregnancy massage

Experiences vary, and massage is not medical treatment. Many expectant mothers choose pregnancy massage simply because they want time to relax in a comfortable, supported position.

Important safety information

Please tell us about your pregnancy and health before booking

Before any future appointment is confirmed, please tell Julian and the therapist how many weeks pregnant you are and disclose any relevant medical conditions, pregnancy complications, pain, bleeding, recent procedures, allergies or advice given by your midwife, GP or obstetric team.

How do I join the waiting list?
Use the WhatsApp button on this page and send your postcode. Joining is free and does not oblige you to make a booking.
Will I be charged for joining?
No. The waiting list is free, and payment would only be discussed if you later choose to confirm an appointment.
Where will appointments take place?
The planned service is mobile, with appointments provided at suitable homes across Oxfordshire.
Do I need to tell you how many weeks pregnant I am?
Yes. The therapist will need to know the stage of pregnancy and any relevant health information before confirming that massage is appropriate.
Should I ask my midwife or doctor first?
Seek advice from your midwife, GP or obstetric team whenever you have pregnancy complications, medical concerns or uncertainty about whether massage is suitable.
Will I lie on my stomach?
Pregnancy massage is normally adapted using comfortable supported positions, often including side-lying with cushions. Positioning is agreed with the client.
Can I choose the pressure?
Yes. Pressure should be adapted throughout the appointment according to comfort, stage of pregnancy and the therapist’s professional assessment.
Can I book another massage while I wait?
Other massage services are currently available, but you must disclose pregnancy before booking. A therapist who is not appropriately trained in pregnancy massage will not provide a standard massage as a substitute.
